Connect suitable buildings with a dedicated wireless bridge, with the route and performance assessed before installation.

Two buildings connected by a dedicated wireless link

Link buildings without assuming you need a second connection

A point-to-point wireless link uses a pair of suitably positioned radios to carry a network connection between locations. It can be an option for an office and workshop, a house and outbuilding, or other buildings on a site where a cable route is difficult.

We assess whether a wireless bridge is appropriate for your property. The link connects networks between buildings; it does not automatically provide Wi-Fi throughout the building at the far end.

Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint links

We plan and install wireless links to connect workshops, farm buildings, barns, offices and other outbuildings to the main site network.

  • Point-to-point: a dedicated link between two locations, such as a farmhouse and a workshop or an office and a separate building.
  • Point-to-multipoint: a link from one main location to several receiving buildings, such as workshops, barns and other buildings around a farm or business site.

We assess the layout, distances, line of sight, obstructions, power and required capacity before recommending a design. Each receiving building can then have suitable local Wi-Fi or wired connections for the equipment used there.

What we can help with

  • Assessing the proposed link route, approximate distance and mounting positions.
  • Reviewing sight lines, obstructions and the surrounding radio environment.
  • Selecting, aligning and configuring suitable point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless equipment.
  • Planning power, weather-appropriate cabling and the receiving network.
  • Checking the completed link against the agreed requirements.

A clear path matters

Buildings, trees, changes in height and seasonal foliage can affect the radio path. We review the clearance around the link as well as the view between mounting points. Suitability and achievable performance depend on the equipment and site conditions.

Mounting access, permissions, safe installation arrangements and power at both ends need to be considered. We discuss these requirements before agreeing the installation; distance alone is not enough to choose a system.

Complete the connection at both ends

The receiving building may need a switch, access point or separate network rules. We can discuss Wi-Fi coverage and local cabling as part of the project. The available internet speed still depends on the original broadband connection and other activity on it.

Support across Cheshire and surrounding counties

We welcome enquiries from Crewe, Nantwich, Winsford, Tarporley, Northwich and Warrington, as well as customers across Cheshire and the surrounding counties, including Shropshire, Staffordshire and Denbighshire. Tell us your postcode and what you need so we can discuss a suitable visit, remote session or project assessment.

Common questions

Will it work through trees or buildings?

Obstructions can make a proposed link unsuitable. A site assessment is needed before we recommend equipment or describe likely performance.

Is this the same as a Wi-Fi extender?

No. A dedicated building-to-building bridge has a different role from extending wireless coverage for phones and laptops inside a property.

What details should I send?

Send both locations or a site sketch, the approximate distance, the intended use and whether power is available at each end. We can then discuss the next assessment step.
